Disk device related system reference codes

Older hardware might suffer from disk device related errors more frequently. Interestingly, detailed information is hard to find. This is because system reference codes often refer to a certain piece of hardware (Feature Code) or FC and the actual error code. Because IBM over time released a multitude of disk devices, the possible combinations are plenty. This means, querying an internet search engine most likely will not turn up the desired results.

The following table lists the documented second half of SRCs[1] for the disk devices

  • 432x,
  • 660x,
  • 671x,
  • 673x.
